- Cover
- PU leather hardback, magnetic closure
- Weight
- 4.33 oz
A 7-inch e-reader spends its life in one hand, so the first thing we judged this MoKo on is how little it changes that. The listed weight is 4.33 ounces, and the hardback shell is wrapped in a matte, finely textured faux leather that gives a warm palm something to hold.
That texture is a big part of why this is the case we recommend first. The Kindle presses in and stays put, the cutouts land exactly where the port and power button are, and the front cover closes flat instead of curling at the corner — small things that decide whether a case feels built for the 12th gen or merely compatible with it. The magnets handle the rest: shut the cover and the screen sleeps, open it and the page is waiting.
What you give up is furniture. There is no kickstand, no hand strap and no card slot, and it is not rated water resistant, so the fabric case from Amazon is the one to take near a bathtub. In exchange the cover nearly disappears into the job, and the color range runs from gray forest to printed wraps, which makes the plain silhouette a choice rather than a compromise.
Pros
- Snug 7-inch fit with precise cutouts
- Textured non-slip surface stays in the hand
- Cover magnets wake and sleep the screen
- Light 4.33-ounce hardback shell
Cons
- No stand, hand strap, or card slot
- Not rated water resistant
Our default: a slim, textured hardback that fits the 7-inch Paperwhite tightly, wakes and sleeps with the cover, and adds almost nothing to the feel of the reader.
